20 Responses to “Working Groups & Committees”
Morning.
I’m willing to do an hour or so a day to assist with the logistics and food organisation. I’ve had a fair amount of experience through Scouts in running camps, and have organised the Stop Bush student protests for Wollongong. I don’t think I’ll be able to stay on site, but I can certainly help out.
Cheers,
tess
Hi Tess,
There is now a roster at OCCUPY in Martin Place, where you can write down your name for the tasks you wish to help out with. We will put a roster on the website soon.
Cheers,
E
can the roster people set up a gmail address like occupysydneyroster@gmail.com so people can stay in touch?

[...] So they’re against evil Jew chocolates, public transport and spelling. Victorian police have their measure. An occupation of Sydney also began today, featuring 11 proposed working groups and eight different committees: [...]
When did evil become so mainstream. When do you feel that you will be in a position to heard all of Australias jewish citizens into the gas ovens. I hope your fellow traveler jihadists behead you people first so that we can at least get some satisfaction from your stupidity.
I don’t think you have enough working groups
Notice you don’t have a hygiene working group. Not surprised really, you’d frighten away half of your rent-a-crowd supporters. Maybe the Police can turn the hoses on you!
Brb, creating more working groups.
Ps. Please don’t picket my place of business on the basis of my ethnic background
Can I have some of your working groups? I seem to have misplaced mine and after all you have so many.
Good idea James,
Pehaps you can give us some of your working groups so that we can actually get you spoilt, stupid and dumb bludgers to do an honest days work. Extemely annoying – we work to build a community while you dumb left wing twits seek to destroy all with not even the slightest concept of what you are doing and why.
Great stuff!! So good to see the people (everywhere!) taking back the power.
Systems can work well to start, but if those at the top are not held in check, abuse of power begins to occur. This is what has happened. For too long those at the top have had free reign with money and resources, and now there is an incredible level of greed and corruption. Hague said in the UK that going on the streets will not help and that this change needs to come through government. Sorry, but I beg to differ (as do millions of others worldwide). For too long we have relied on those in government to make these changes but with their hands now well into the pockets of the bankers and other unscrupulous corporations…leaving this with the government is now like leaving Dracula in charge of managing the blood bank.
It is up to the PEOPLE to now take back what is rightly theirs…A TRUE AND JUST democracy. We, the people, need to get on the streets…EVERYWHERE.
I will be coming into Martin Place to take part in this action.
You go for it Cheryl, me, I’ll be watching the footy on the telly because footy is real unlike the complete and utter bollocks of mustering in Martin Place.
While I will not be able to attend throughout the week, mostly due to the fact I have to work for “the man” and finish uni assessments, I will be there on the weekend.
Just a question about logistics, there were two donation runs on the first day of occupation that raised around $1000 in cash. I participated in this donation collection along with a young woman by the name of Tess (may be the “Tess”above), just wondering if anyone knows where they are, if the donations are still at the occupation, and if they’re being used for food etc?
Cheers
I do not typically remark but I gotta state regards for that post about this 1.
Interesting place the trolls above are comming from.
They sound guilty.
As I live in the country and am elderly I’m unable to be there, but my heart is with you!
I would like to donate some money (not a lot, as I’m a pensioner) but I think every little bit helps.
Please let me know how I can do that.
Hi Sabine! Thanks so much for the encouragement. The vocal support of the people will always be considered the most valuable and appreciated donation to our movement.
Of course, still needing to function in our current system, we have monetary needs we need to address in order to maintain our stand in Martin Place, as well as to assist in helping our voice reach more people.
Please keep an eye on our Donations page. It should be updated in the coming days with PO Box and banking details.
I would like to propose a work group “Media support to Outreach Work Group”. Following the GA Sunday 22nd October, 5pm:
18. An addition to the site be made whereby visitors to the site can,
in 400 words, answer the following 3 questions:
• Who they are?
• Why they are interested in Occupy Sydney?
• What do they hope Occupy Sydney can achieve?
A brief presentation was made to the Outreach Workgroup this evening
(24 Oct) suggesting that for the outreach program in the suburbs of
Sydney (next Saturday 29 October) where Occupy Sydney persons set up
tables and discuss the economic issues facing society in all transport
hubs of Sydney, Occupiers should be encouraged to video (cell phone?)
people responding to the three questions listed above as succinctly as
possible (<1min) and that these clips should be emailed to the media
working group for posting on the website on a page associated with the
text listings generated in response to the three questions in
consensus decision 18 listed above.
The aim is to start a text and video data base that can provide
encouragement to the 99% to contribute their own text and video
responses.
This is the start of an ongoing project that would:
1. Provide a text data base that can be analyzed to determine the
issues that the 99% consider important.
2. Provide direct evidence of the wide variety of Australians that
seek to support Occupy thus lowering the barriers to participation in
Occupy.
3. By supporting Occupy community outreach be the first steps in
developing a mechanism for participatory democracy on a broad scale.
Further goals as an outreach program are to empower the 99% by giving
a voice to the considerably larger community who may wish to
contribute but are unable to attend GA's, initially throughout Sydney,
then more broadly, NSW, and ultimately nationally.
I propose that any people who would like to contribute to this project meet briefly after the GA Wednesday October 26 to swap contact details, briefly discuss project and issues involved, with a view to set up a formal working group around this topic. I will identify myself with a call to the GA.
Hi!
I must say the enthusiasm of people to get things right and realizing their power everywhere is jus miraclous! we are uniting!
I’m happy to be part of the media working group. Please update me on what responsibility I have.
Much love and best wishes to everyone who is acting for justice!
remember anyone can form a working group. they don’t have to meet every week, and can meet for short periods of time, or even for a day! Leave a comment if you have a regular workgroup or discussion group. we can also add it to the events calendar.
